Koh Phangan and Koh Samui are of the same size but unlike the last one Koh Phangan is not so densely populated, it’s a perfect place for those who don’t like to restrict their freedom and want to choose the place to stay themselves. And Koh Phangan island offers you a wide range of places from the ones where you can spend unforgettable vivid nights to the quiet and secret bays where you can get only by boat.

You can get to the Koh Phangan resorts by the sea from the nearest islands Koh Samui and Koh Thao or the mainland port Surat Thani as well as by bus or train from Bangkok; the trip in general will take you one or two hours.

The cheapest way to get to the chosen Koh Phangan beach from the Thong Sala port is the route taxi “Tuk-tuk”. Such taxies come to the port at the same time as the ships or circulate according to a certain schedule. The cost of the trip is approximately 50-100 Bahts per person. The cost of the same very drive by means of the ordinary taxi will cost around 800 Bahts. So the rule is the following: the more people are in the car the cheaper the drive costs.

Resorts of the Koh Phangan also offer you to rent a bike for about 6-10$ a day but if you wish to stay at the Eastern part of the island it’s better not to risk that much due to the condition of the local roads which can lead to the quite serious damage of your health.

One of the most popular Koh Phangan beaches - Haad Rin is situated in the South-eastern part of the island. This place became famous due to the grand well known Koh Phangan Full Moon Parties held once a month. If you plan to stay at Haad Rin during the party period it’s better to book the hotel in advance.

Hotels at Koh Phangan will stun you by the diversity in service they offer and money they charge. The most expansive accommodations and luxurious Koh Phangan villas in the island are at Haad Rin of course, but if you search more persistently you will by all means find pretty bearable bungalow at Koh Phangan just for 600-700 Bahts and if you walk up the hill above the Haad Rin you will find absolutely descent mini hotels to rent for 2500 Bahts.

One of the first settlements of the island where the local inhabitants are still living is situated in the South-western part. Here you will also find the port Thong Sala.

The Western part of Koh Phangan is thought of as the most ideal part of the island. Such beaches as Had Yao and Ao Chao Phao are situated here.

Northern part of Koh Phangan hosts Thailand village Chalok Lam. Her you will find no infrastructure but if your desire to live close to the local fishermen’s port among the native inhabitants, enjoy the peacefulness of vivid nature, admire the Koh Phangan moon and…which is the most important…stay far away from the loud parties then this place is your perfect match.

Climate and weather at Koh Phangan is quite predictable.

In Southern regions of Thailand 2 seasons are dominating: wet and dry but despite this the weather at the Koh Phangan is permanent the whole year round.

It’s better not to plan your Koh Phangan travel during October and November which are the wettest months of the Thai year. In this period as well as in the beginning of December the weather is very changeable and quite often rainy.

Dry season lasts from February till April. Frankly speaking, rains are also possible during this time but they are very seldom and short-term (only few hours a day).

The island becomes crowded with tourists somewhere between November, December, February, March and August though January and July also attract visitors sometimes. If you want to escape crowded streets and enjoy the low prices you should visit the Koh Phangan in April, May and June.

But keep in mind that the most of Koh Phangan sunny days you can enjoy only in September!

Having the most astonishing nightlife in Thailand Phuket offers you millions of possibilities. The center of Phuket nightlife is Bangla Road and its surroundings with millions of famous Phuket nightclubs. Hundreds of open-air bars are opening after 8 o’clock at night. Dozens of Phuket girls are hanging around the bar, different from bar to bar music is playing loudly and the choice of alcoholic drinks is wide enough to fit all the tastes! At the entrance you will see a few bouncers in the uniform. Their tough and concentrated look will hint you that the scuffles are not that rare things here. You will also see one or two ladyboys hanging around with powdery bruises which is not surprising taking into account their manner to stick to everyone coming in. Ladyboys are perfect pickpockets so keep your money in the safe place if you are going there.

Going along the Bangla Road from the beach you will get to Sea Dragon party place. If you are looking for this place your guiding point will be pink neon sign “The Pink Panther Go-Go”. Here you’ll find about 20 bars, few Go-Gos, Tattoo Salon, Phuket Massage Salon and even one Guesthouse (which is really surprising). Everything is as usual: passing by Phuket ladies you will hear inviting screams which will not leave you careless in the end. So after all you’ll get in and find a place near at bar and as soon as it happens dozens of local girls from Phuket will surround you trying to get as much of your money as it is only possible.

Along the Phuket beach at the Thawiwong Road the biggest and the most exquisite seafood restaurants are located. Here you will also find Banana Disco, souvenir shops, clothes and shoes market and even McDonalds! Here is the perfect place for the night Phuket shopping.

If you are looking for some exotic relax for your body you can have a séance of famous Thai massage which costs around 300 Bahts. The treatment is done in a private booth but it doesn’t mean that you’ll not hear someone else’s moans.

At the Western Shore somewhere around Patong prices are about 10-15% lower than at the Eastern Sore of the Island. The prices in the middle of the Island – region of Kathu, are approximately 20% lower than at the shore.

Accommodation comprising just eight suites - each, beautifully-styled; a mini-spa with only two treatment rooms - both, superbly designed; and a restaurant with just nine tables - that’s amongst the top two dining establishments on Samui (and I’m not saying what the other one is!).

And although with only nine tables you’d think it would be intimate enough already, at Villa Nalinnadda they’re not even in the same place. There’re four tables inside the light and airy stylish interior, with the other five on the beach itself. And this open-air seating is set up under chic bamboo and sheeting canopies - castaway-style. What with the flaming torches providing the illumination, the gentle swishing of the waves just feet away and superb cuisine being served, it would be hard to find a more tropical location for dining on Samui.

Next, I’ll mention the staff. Because they really are extra-ordinary at Villa Nalinnadda. But that’s not surprising when you find out that so many of them have 5-star hotel backgrounds. The chef, in particular, has the highest possible pedigree in that he has previously cooked for the Thai Royal Family!

The food they produce here is, to put it simply, excellent. There’s just no other word which could describe it adequately. And the presentation is second to none. Firstly, there’s an amazing 40-dish Asian tapas selection which you can choose from individually, or have any 10 dishes for just 999 Baht. And then there’s the a la carte menu consisting of Thai, International and Fusion, and here are a few examples of particularly recommendable dishes. From the appetisers section, there’s the delicious Grilled King Prawn Mango Skewers with sweet vanilla chili dressing, and then there’s the huge Nalinnadda Appetiser Plate (for 2) comprising pork satays, chicken satays, shrimp cakes, shrimp bruchettas and spring rolls.

And the Thai main course dish of Stir-fried Chicken with cashew nut is one of the best you’ll ever eat. If you’re a steak-lover, then the Grilled Australian Tenderloin served with sauteed vegetables and the chef’s special potato in its jacket will more than satisfy your meaty desires.

But don’t make the error of not leaving room for dessert. That would be a BIG mistake. Especially recommended are the Blueberry Cheesecake and the Jasmine Creme Brulee, so you’ll just have to eat both of them. And you wouldn’t regret it if you did!

So, why go all the way over to Hua Thanon for a meal when there are many great restaurants in the main tourist areas of Chaweng and Lamai? Well, pop in at Villa Nalinnadda for lunch, or a pot of tea or coffee (they serve afternoon tea here with cakes, too) when you’re on a day-trip around the island, and I’ll guarantee that you’ll be back one night for dinner. Especially when you see that the prices are so reasonable. I, for one, would be happy to pay double for what you get here.

And Villa Nalinnadda is definitely a place I’d go with a special person - if I wanted to share a long magic moment, that is.
